As volunteers for the Mokelumne Wilderness, we want to do more than just enjoy this magical place--we want to help protect it and preserve it for future generations. And we're willing to put in the time to make that happen.

About Us

We are a loose organization of volunteers who take on various activities to support the Eldorado National Forest and the Mokelumne Wilderness. And we can use all the help we can get. Interested? Read on to learn how you can spend a few hours, a few days, or a lifetime in the service of one of the Sierra Nevada's wildest places.

Here's What We Do:

We encourage our members to get out and get involved. Here's a list of some of the things we do

Conduct wilderness patrols
Issue wilderness permits
Educate visitors on wilderness ethics, regulations & Leave No Trace Principles
Inform visitors of trail conditions and hazards
Perform trail maintenance and construction with hand tools
Assist in wilderness training & education events
Conduct wilderness impact monitoring surveys, and
Restore impacted sites

Trailhead Naturalist

Meet and Greet our Visitors--and set them on the right path.

Solitude Monitoring

Collect hard data on trail usage in our wilderness.

Trail Crew

Pick up a shovel, loppers, or a McLeod and clear the way for our visitors.
